The Montgomery Blair players presented William Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" onstage in the Blair auditorium Friday night. Ladies, knights, fairies and queens frolicked and fooled with each other for the delight of the audience.
The varsity football team beat the Northwood Gladiators in the Battle of the Boulevard to close their season with a last home victory on Senior Night. Crowds of Blazers braved the cold weather to cheer on their team as they took on the school's greatest rival. The Blair team was proud to bring the season to a close with a win on their home turf, and coaches and returning players are looking forward to next season.
Blair's cross country girls's team finished ninth and boys's team finished 13th at the 4A West Regional Cross Country Championships at Watkins Mill High School on Thursday. Of the 13 schools that competed, Walter Johnson swept first place for the girls' and boys' races.
The girls's varsity soccer team (11-1) ended their season with a disheartening loss to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase (B-CC) Barons 1-2. Their skill and strategy matched that of the undefeated B-CC team, but spirits fell at the final whistle of the hard-fought game.
As goalie, senior co-captain Annie Buckley is out of the way but always in play. For the past three seasons, Buckley has been a formidable force in the Blair goal. Sporting enormous black and gold protective shin-pads and a hefty helmet, Buckley waits to be called on at the most crucial moments in the game.
