In a rainy playoff match Thursday evening, the boys' lacrosse team ended their season in a close loss to the Springbrook Blue Devils, 2-0. Despite the early exit, the players were pleased with their efforts and hopeful for next season.

Coed volleyball wins big on senior night to close out regular season

The Blair coed volleyball team (7-5) handily defeated the Wheaton Knights in straight games 25-14, 25-18 and 26-24 for a successful senior night on Monday. Although deadlocked early in each game, the Blazers showed their superiority in long runs to close out games: a 12-0 streak to end the first, 7-0 to finish the second and a 13-2 rally out of a ten-point hole to end the night.

Lady Blazers show Gladiators no mercy on senior night

The varsity girls' lacrosse team dominated the Northwood Gladiators with all active senior players putting in a goal. The seniors - Helen Anderson, Lizzie Horne, Rachita Sood, Priyanka Gokhale and Julia Mazerov - were all celebrated before the start of the last regular season game. Mazerov was unable to play due to an ankle injury.

Juniors progress to national division of National History Day

Juniors Elena Gooray and Melissa Mergner took first place in Maryland for the annual nationwide National History Day (NHD) competition on April 26 for their documentary "Forgotten War, Unforgettable Aftermath: Legacy of Conflict and Compromise in the Korean War." The team will continue to the national round competing against 100 other contenders from all 50 states at the University of Maryland on June 19.

April 22 - The average life expectancy for many American women is decreasing. This is the first time that there has been a significant decline since the influenza epidemic in 1918. The most dramatic drop is in southern Virginia, where the life expectancy is five years less than it was in 1983. According to the report, the decline is due to an increase in deaths from lung cancer, diabetes, emphysema and kidney failure, many of which can be attributed to smoking cigarettes.

Since its debut in 2005, "Grey's Anatomy" has continued to attract viewers with its scandalous plotlines � intern affairs and unusual medical cases, such as a woman pregnant with twins by two different fathers, seem to be part of the daily routine at Seattle Grace Hospital. But ever since this season's premiere, the show has been flailing with sagging plots and dying character chemistry. Softball stages comeback on senior night
