Pentagon

2 South Rotary Road Arlington, VA

The Pentagon Metro station is dominated by, obviously, the Pentagon itself but also its vast parking lots and complex bus station. Only by walking close to half a mile can one reach the first retail store, Macy’s, which contains plenty of different options ranging from companies such as Ralph Lauren to Lacoste. However, at other stations, such as the nearby Pentagon City, there are much better options for shopping. Once outside Macy’s, there is still no restaurant or other store in sight. The Pentagon station skyline is mostly large hotels and office buildings, leading to a very austere setting. Also, because of the dense traffic separating the stores from the actual station, there is little reason to get off at Pentagon station if not going for an official tour of its namesake. Pentagon station is close to 45 minutes away from Takoma and Silver Spring stations and requires a transfer at Chinatown on the red line. Information compiled by Jonah Gold.
