After four years of French, students may join the French Honor Society, which allows them to immerse themselves in the more cultural aspect of French.
At each monthly meeting, students are encouraged to discuss, in French, their choices in attending upcoming French social events, such as cinemas or fairs. "This month there's this Francophone convention, which will display the different cultures of different countries that speak French," says club member junior Naina Soni.
In addition to learning more about the culture, French Honor Society teaches the students about responsibility and the importance of education. To stay in the society, students must complete five hours of tutoring ESOL students during lunch. Students also have the option to teach young children the basics of French, and they currently have plans to make a promotional DVD to persuade middle school students to take French as a foreign language.
Students interested in being inducted into French Honor Society should contact Michael Honigsberg or Sabrina Keenan.
