U.S. Department of State Summer Clerical Program
The purpose of the U.S. Department of State's Student Programs Office is to get high school and college students to become interested in a career with the state department and to relieve staffing shortages when employees are away on summer vacation. Students will be able to get a firsthand experience in the field of foreign affairs. Duties include receiving phone calls and referring them to the appropriate individuals, performing office work that requires the use of computer software and equipment, scheduling appointments, meetings and conferences, photocopying and assembling reports and briefings, preparing documents such as reports, correspondence, statistical charts and other records and receiving, filing and distributing office documents. Salaries range from $9.79 to $13.48 per hour.
