Silver Spring Penguins

The penguin is Silver Spring's unofficial mascot, originating from the "Penguin Rush Hour" mural that once hung at the Silver Spring Metro stop; the mural was taken down for restoration, and will be replaced when construction on the station ends. Penguins can be found throughout Silver Spring, from the Metro station to the library.

I've always thought that statue looks more like a bird of flight than a penguin.
