Weezy F. Baby is the self-described "best rapper alive," and audiences seem to agree. After a three-year gap between albums, during which he released a large number of mixtapes and performed dozens of guest verses for other artists, he's built up an impressive buzz that virtually guarantees him chart success. But popular music isn't always good music and "Mrs. Officer," the latest single off his multiplatinum album "Tha Carter III," is a solid demonstration of this principle. Lyrically, it's a typical example of today's shallow, sub-par "pop-hop," as Wayne half-raps, half-sings his fetish regarding "a lady cop." While the song features a likable instrumental with crisp drums and a catchy keyboard riff, Wayne stains the track with off-key attempts at singing and his uncomfortably raspy delivery. Bobby Valentino's captivating and melodic singing and his near-perfect imitation of a police siren almost succeed in resuscitating the song, but Wayne's disappointing verses, as well as a verse by Kidd Kidd that misses the song's beat, prove to be too much to carry.
