1 Kansas over 16 Lehigh
Positioned not only as the number one team in the Midwest, but the number one team in the entire tournament, Lehigh does not have a much of a chance against the experienced Jayhawks.
8 UNLV over 9 Northern Iowa
UNLV's strong backcourt game will help them to outscore the Panthers, who are not as strong offensively.
5 Michigan State over 12 New Mexico State
Although New Mexico State has a strong offense, Michigan State shows more shooting range and crashes the board more aggressively.
4 Maryland over 13 Houston
Led by guard Greivis Vasquez, Maryland has had an impressive season and will be able to shut down Houston guard Aubrey Coleman.
6 Tennessee over 11 San Diego State
When on their game, the Vols are a tough team to beat and are hard to stop from shooting from the outside.
3 Georgetown over 14 Ohio
As a good passing team, the Hoyas will be able to either hit center Greg Monroe in the paint or shooters on the perimeter.
10 Georgia Tech over 7 Oklahoma State
The Yellow Jackets have a bigger inside game and will out rebound the Cowboys.
2 Ohio State over 15 UC-Santa Barbara
The Buckeyes possess an advantage on the boards and will be able to work the ball inside to decisively outscore the Gauchos.
1 Kansas over 8 UNLV
The Jayhawks will be too quick and aggressive on the baseline for UNLV.
4 Maryland over 5 Michigan State
Though it may be a close game, the Terrapins have proven to be a good passing team and will have good ball movement.
3 Georgetown over 6 Tennessee
The Hoyas are more aggressive on the board; Tennessee's defense will not be able to handle their physicality.
2 Ohio State over 10 Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets' won't be able to handle Ohio State's strength in the paint.
1 Kansas over 4 Maryland
The terrapins simply will not be able to handle the Jayhawk's shooting range.
3 Georgetown over 2 Ohio State
The Hoyas will remain unstoppable in the paint and will continue to have impenetrable defense.
1 Kansas over 3 Georgetown
Leading the Big 12 in points per game and field goal percentage, the Jayhawks will move past the Hoyas who almost lead the Big East with highest number of turnovers.
1 Syracuse over 16 Vermont
As it has never been done before, it is unlikely that the number 16 seed Vermont will be able to pull of a win against Syracuse. Syracuse's aggressiveness on the board will also contribute to their edge on Vermont.
8 Gonzaga over 9 Florida State
The Bulldogs are accustomed to a higher seeding than number 8; therefore, they will be hungry to move on to the next round past the Seminoles. They will also be motivated to get their 21st win in a row.
2 UTEP over 5 Butler
UTEP has the potential to upset the Bulldogs with guard Randy Culpepper, who leads the Miners in number of points per game, field goals and steals.
4 Vanderbilt over 13 Murray State
Vandy is a strong long range shooting team hitting almost 50 percent of their field goals this season.
6 Xavier over 11 Minnesota
Xavier is comprised of good short-range shooters who can also penetrate the paint.
3 Pitt over 14 Oakland
Pitt's scrappy defense and textbook offense will push the Panthers past Oakland.
7 BYU over Florida
Lead by guard Jimmer Fredette, the cougars will be able to hit all of their outside shots.
2 Kansas State over 15 North Texas
As a strong team in the Big 12, Kansas State will beat North Texas with their strong backcourt game.
1 Syracuse over 8 Gonzaga
Top scorer and rebounder, guard Wes Johnson will lead the Orange past the Bulldogs by crashing the boards more aggressively.
12 UTEP over 4 Vanderbilt
The Miners are going to shock March Madness fans this year with their sharp passing game. The Comodores aren't looking good enough this year to move on to the sweet sixteen.
6 Xavier over 3 Pitt
Even with guard Jermaine Dixon's crisp passing and good ball movement, Pitt's defense is no match for Xavier's strong shooters.
2 Kansas State over 7 BYU
As a strong team in the Big 12, Kansas State will beat North Texas with a strong back court game.
Syracuse over 4 Vanderbilt
The Orange has the tight zone defense that drives teams like Vanderbilt. The Commodores will have great difficulty and will be forced to prove their outside shooting range.
2 Kansas State over 6 Xavier
The Wildcats will have to prove they deserve their position as their highest seeding ever, but they can do it. If the team's high scoreres Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente are on their game, Xavier doesn't stand a chance.
1 Syracuse over 2 Kansas State
Despite large center Arinze Onuaku’s quadriceps injuries this season, the Orangemen should bring a bright performance to the Final Four. All season Syracuse has maintained a tight zone defense that has been hard for run-and-gun teams to penetrate and if they can keep it up, they will be able to hold the tempo for the game.
1 Kentucky over 16 East Tennessee State
Point guard John Wall is undoubtedly a powerhouse and as leading scorer with 16.9 points per game will certainly lead Kentucky to a win over the 16th seed.
8 Texas over 9 Wake Forest
Texas hasn't been able to scrape together too many wins lately and definitely played their best in the first half of the season. The Longhorns will pull off this win but won't get far overall.
12 Cornell over 5 Temple
Historically, the bemoaned 5 – 12 matchup is prone to upsets, and Cornell will handle Temple no problem.
4 Wisconsin over 13 Wofford
Wofford doesn't pose a legitimate threat to the number 16 team in the nation.
6 Marquette over 11 Washington
One of Marquette's greatest strengths is their ball handling – when they keep the number of turnovers low the Golden Eagles will do well.
3 New Mexico over 14 Montana
New Mexico isn't at all synonymous with college basketball, the UNM program is solid through and through. The Lobos are especially efficient when they have the ball and are particularly great at defensive rebounds.
10 Missouri over 7 Clemson
While these two teams are fairly equal offensively, Mizzou's got the defensive edge.
2 West Virgina over 15 Morgan State
West Virginia had a strong showing this year and capped their season off with a Big East Championship; their momentum should carry them far into the dance.
1 Kentucky over 8 Texas
Aside from being the tallest team in the tourney, Kentucky has a freshman dynamic duo in John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, both of whom excel under pressure.
4 Wisconsin over 12 Cornell
Wisconsin is smart with the ball and has a talented defense. But this game should be close, as earlier in the season Kansas barely beat a scrappy Cornell.
3 New Mexico over 6 Marquette
New Mexico will thrive off of their momentum. Though the Lobos are the surprise in the tournament, they went 6 – 0 against ranked teams this season.
2 West Virginia over 10 Missouri
West Virginia's stellar performances late in the game in addition to their big frontcourt bode well for their performance this year.
1 Kentucky over 4 Wisconsin
Wisconsin won't be able to hold up against the experienced and well-coached Kentucky. Wisconsin has some superstars, but the Wildcats' are better all-around.
2 West Virginia over 3 New Mexico
The Mountaineers have an incredibly effective defense, not to mention Da'Sean Butler, who is a huge – both literally and figuratively – part of the team's winning formula. New Mexico is in a rhythm, but doesn't have enough to triumph over West Virginia.
1 Kentucky over 2 West Virginia
Though historically, Kentucky's got more experience and a better record in the tournament, none of that matters this year. What matters this year is that West Virginia rests a lot on Da'Sean Butler's shoulders, which means if Butler has an off-night the Mountaineers are in trouble. West Virginia also has a problem with their shot selection, and Kentucky can rebound with the best.
1 Duke over 16 Arkansas-Pine Bluff
The Blue Devils have the experience and technical skills to neatly handle this 16 seed.
9 Louisville over 8 California
Rick Batino is an excellent coach and should lead Louisville to a win in round one. Louisville also has some superb offensive rebounders.
5 Texas A&M over 12 Utah State
Definitely A&M, they had a fantastic finish in the Big 12 and should crush Utah State.
4 Purdue over 13 Siena
Purdue will be without Robbie Hummel (the Big 10 player of the year) for the whole tournament due to a torn ACL, but is still good enough to beat Siena.
11 Old Dominion
over 6 Notre Dame
ODU is hotter coming into the tournament, and Notre Dame will be resting on their one good player, Luke Harandgody.
3 Baylor over 14 Sam Houston State University
Baylor is on a roll coming into the tournament this year, and SHSU won't make much noise.
7 Richmond over 10 St. Mary's
Like Baylor, Richmond is on fire lately and will tear right through St. Mary's.
2 Villanova over 15 Robert Morris University
Villanova is not only historically good but has an advantageous seeding – look for the Wildcats to go far this year.
1 Duke over 9 Louisville
Louisville may be a bit of a giant killer this season, but Duke will be focused, more intense, and therefore unstoppable - at least in round two.
5 Texas A & M over 4 Purdue
The Aggies are confident in their game, and Purdue, at the moment, isn’t.
3 Baylor over 11 Old Dominion
This year, Baylor was phenomenal statistically, and by this time Old Dominion will have fizzled out.
2 Villanova over 7 Richmond
Villanova didn't come into the tourney with a lot of momentum, but should pick up the speed and overcome Richmond.
1 Duke over 5 Texas A&M
Coach K is always able to bring out the best in his players, and superstars Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith certainly make their coach's job easier.
2 Villanova over 3 Baylor
'Nova's got the power and experience to at least make it to the Final Four.
2 Villanova over 1 Duke
Duke is suited more for ACC ball, that is, they're a technical, finesse-oriented team. Thanks to the Big East, 'Nova's more physical and can take Duke.
1 Kentucky over 2 Villanova
Kentucky has reached 13 final fours in their 50 tournament appearances, and with newcomer to Lexington John Calipari, this year's team has a real shot at the title. The Wildcats (from Lexington, Philly) probably have the most talented team in the field as four of their five starters, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson, are unquestionably future NBA players. On top of that, Kentucky only had two regular season losses this year! But the Wildcats' do have a weakness; if 'Nova can play a tight zone defense and force Kentucky to revert to their jump-shooting game, Kentucky won't make it into the championship. Otherwise, Coach Calipari and his team of all-stars will squash the wavering and foul-happy Villanova.
1 Kansas over 1 Syracuse
The Jayhawks will be a force to be reckoned with in the Final Four by possessing experience, confidence and a definite intimidation factor. This midwestern basketball powerhouse will represent the competiveness of the Big 12 by being strong in the paint and shooting well from the outside. The Jayhawks' signature style is a run-and-gun game and their compeitors will have a tough time slowing this team down once they get going. Just as in previous years, Kansas is a well-rounded, well coached team. But Syracuse will not be easy to beat by any means. As winners of the Big East, one of this year’s toughest conferences that had eight teams qualify for the tournament, the Orangemen has a tight zone defense that is difficult for quick paced teams like the Jayhawks, to break through.
