American Idol: Pick Yours!
Reality television has overwhelmed American society in the past few years in a deluge of trashy dating shows, cleverly masked popularity contests, and publicized ventures in human humiliation. But one show seems a little less tarnished by the real-life soap opera phenomenon, one show seems to have a bit more honest merit: American Idol. Averaging over fifteen million viewers a week, the second installment of this reality television series is a singing contest in which the American public chooses the winner.
American Idol began with auditions in several major cities in which the three judges, Simon Cowell (the mean one), Paul Abdul (sickeningly sweet), and Randy Jackson (in-between), voted on whether or not candidates received the chance to travel to Hollywood and perform again. Next, the hundreds of Hollywood contestants were narrowed to twelve finalists who now compete each week in hopes that they will not be the one contestant fickle America eliminates.
With only nine contestants left out of the twelve, the stakes are getting higher for the superstar hopefuls. Carmen Rasmusen, Corey Clark, Ruben Studdard, Joshua Gracin, Clay Aiken, Kimberly Locke, Kimberly Caldwell, Rickey Smith, and Trenyce make up the finalists, with America already having dismissed the late (and generally unmourned) Julia DeMato, Charles Grigsby, and Vanessa Olivarez.
Out of all the names and faces, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are the two favorites, with stellar voices and endearingly normal physiques. Both are incredibly charming, humble, and talented. As "nice" judge Abdul put it, “I think America is having a love affair with Ruuuuben," noting the audience’s new cheer for contestant Studdard.
But Silver Chips wants to know who your favorites are in the American Idol competition— whether it’s the cutesy Carmen or the country Joshua, the hometown Ruben or the charismatic Kimberly Caldwell. Write in with your hopes and predictions!

I admire some of the others, but Clay touches my heart.
His voice, his phrasing, his style and his
look capture me in a way that only a handful of performers ever have.
I think America is sick of all the Britney's, Justin's and Ashanti's...and I think we want something else. Clay is unique and refreshing.

They both have good voices and they both have the looks and style but they can only sing to certain songs to where they are good . Joshua needs to stick with country songs he is very good at them .Trenyce needs to stay with Whitney Houston songs she does good on those .

One thing about this American Idol... all the people don't seem too idol-ish. The only people who seem like normal easily commercializable people are Trenyce, the blonde Kimberly and Carmen. But, Kimberly's all country-ish and the other two don't sing too well...

She has the most awesome amazing voice!!! She has so much star quality, and is really in to what she is doing. She's always focused. I do agree the last two weeks she has not performed as well, but she's still my favorite!!! The very first time I saw her on AI, I said she's gonna be in the top 10! She makes you want to get up and dance!!! I love her voice!! So amazing!!!! amazing!!! I guess I agree with her being in the bottom 3 this last week, but there were people worse than her, Rickey and Kim Locke!! Kim L.'s been in the bottom 3 three times already!!! Carmen SHOULD HAVE been voted off this week, she sucks!!!! Her voice is terrible. Even Simon doesn't like her. She's shit! My prediction is that she'll be voted off next week. And that Kimberly Caldwell is going to give the best performance of the night next week. She knows she has to raise the bar, and pick a song that really fits her. She can do it! And she will! And she will not be in the bottom 3 next week!!! My predicition for next week's bottom 3- is Carmen Rasmusen, no doubt! She sucks, and should've already been voted off, that vibrato crack--head! Can't even carry a tune! It will be Carmen, Josh Gracin, and the third spot for safety is up for: Kim Caldwell, Trenyce or Kim Locke. I'm really pushin' for Kim Locke, though. She's a great singer, but it's time to get a little more critical. And personally Trenyce and Kim C. should stay!!!! in the top 5! along with Ruben and Clay! Okay, Kim Caldwell is the bomb!!!! Go, Kim!

kimberly locke - okay, but chances are she will not win, probably because of the way that she looks.
clay - probably will win, but i seriously am not a fan. sounds way to broadway for every song. ugh.
ricky - so long, far well..., okay you know the rest of the sing (don't be scared to sing it as you're reading)
trenyce - i totally agree with simon, she sucked. she shouldn't have sang that celine dion song...blah.
joshua - okay, he is way too country sounding for me, but some people like country music. people like him because of the fact that he is a marine and 'dedicated to his country'.
rubin - i have to admit that he can sing, but i really don't like him that much. wouldn't be surprised to see him in the top three.
kimberly caldwell - that bryan adam's song was a big mistake. seriously, she sucked. she looked good, but her singing sucked. her voice is to smoky and wraspy for a slow song. i hope she gets the boot next week.
carmen rasmusen - last but not least, we come to carmen. i like her, seriously. okay, she has had some problems with song choices, but she CAN sing really well ( i liked the blondie thing). she also has a great stage presence and has a good sense of style, or a good stylist. whatever. i know that she probably won't win, but if i had it my way, she would come in #1, or at least in the top 3.

It is getting harder to choose which is the best performer as they are all so talented and can sing in an musical style. It is an enjoyable, intertaining show that keeps my family glued to the TV. Give lots of encouragement to the daugs that are left, as they will succeed and become stars in their own right!
I hope she wins CLAY is awesome but Ruben is just like whoppie who gives!!!
I really think Ruben deserves to be an American Idol because he sings for everyone not just for himself, and he sings from his heart and you can tell that it's coming from his heart because you can feel it and if you can't something is wrong with you!!
Kimberly Caldwell - Dresses nicely, but her singing SUX!!!! She should get off sooooooooooooooon!!!! She's definetly not going to be the next American Idol!
Ruben Studdard - IS THE BEST EVER!!!!!!! He has a great voice and he's a little teddy bear!!!! He has never messed up, unlike the others! Man, he is sooooooooooooo good!!!! HE IS THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL!!!!! I mean, the whole thing is HIM!!!!

The marine guy, he is terrible. Can anyone guess why he is still on? Actually the two best by far are Reuben and Clay. Now I'm deffinately no expert, but this Clay guy, sure he can sing but he seems so damn feminine. He's more like the homosexual version of American Idol. Not that there is anything wrong with that!! Reuben on the other hand he's not your typical pop star, but that guys voice drags me to fox every tues and wed night.
One last note. Paula Abdul is still one of the sexiest women in the industry today. She can judge me anytime

Carmen: Why is she still here?! It's like "Attack of the Mormons." She's a cockroach, she just wont die!! She sounds like she's gargling listorine!
Kimberely Locke: I agree with Smokie, "This girl can SANG!" She should definately be at the last show, and should be second place, imho.
Josh: I hate this country gig he thought up. I used to like him before he started faking his voice. Now he sounds stupid and it's pointless to keep him in the competition. He should be gone after Carmen.
Trenyce: I really like her voice. She has alot of talent, and she should be 4th. The reason I put her there is because sometimes she growls or something, and it really gets on my nerves.
Ruben: People need to learn how to spell his name. It isn't Reuben, Rubin, Rueban...god it's pathetic. Anywho, I think he has a very nice, average voice. He should be third because he sounds complacent, but has more control than Trenyce, and sounds a whole lot better than Goat-girl or Josh. The only "problem" is that he doesn't tounge his "t's." It sounds like "duh."
Clay Aiken, I.E, American Idol:
Clay rocks people! Wake up and hear the talent. Such control! Such tone! Such a range! *coughplushe'skindahotcough* He is such a role model as well and has a buttload of talent! Vote Clay A. all dah way!

With that said, I want to say that my pick for the top three is #3. Ruben #2. Kimberly Lock, and my number 1 choice is: Clay Aiken. Kimberly and Clay have the best voices, and for the Ruben fans, don't get angry..I think all three of the names I mentioned will have people knocking at their door for record deals..it is just that Clay is the most talented of the three. As for looks..who cares? I mean really? Personally I think Clay is cute, but I think someone above said he was a troll? Let's get serious here for a moment..if you were on stage, hoping to win because you love music and music was always a part of your life, would you want someone to tell you that you are ugly, or fat, or any of the negative names I have seen listed above as if it was the end of the world if you were?
And I agree with Simon, Clay would be good for Broadway But I also bet that Clay would sound good singing anything. You could even give him "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" to sing, and he would still rock the house!

Last night when I saw that Rueben was in the bottom two I knew then that America was not looking for the total package they are voting for their friends which is not fair.I stopped watching American Idol last year when Tamyra Gray was booted off which was unfair. idol,if he win he will show america that everyone has a fair chance at achieving their dream no matter what your race is, Clay is good but Reuben has the magic that make people feel he is singing just to them,which tend to make people feel warm all over after listening to hime, clay does not have that magic and never will it something born in you. I feel that a big mistake was made in who should have won. Clay Aiken has a beautiful voice that sent chills unlike anyonelse who competed on the show.
Reuben was no comparison to the various in Clay's vocal abilities. I feel Clay could very easily sing vocals for children's movies such as was in Aladdin. He may not be a rock, country, or Jazz singer. Give him a chance Simon Cowell this guy could make a record company alot of money if looked at in the right light. Wake up!

conduct himself in a mature manner and he is
a role model for what the American Idol should be. He has a way of caressing the lyrics to a song and delivering it in a very personal way. He completely owns his performances. He knows when to speak up and when to be quiet. He is a remarkable person.

Obviously Ruben's wasn't ready when Clay's was. And remember this - THE ORIGINAL GAME PLAN WAS TO RELEASE BOTH THEIR ALBUMS ON THE SAME DAY!!!! Whose fault it it that Clay was ready and Ruben wasn't?
I'm sitting here listening to Ruben's album and it's good. Not great, but certainly better then Kelly Clarkson's or Justin Guarini's. Clay and Ruben put those two wannabes to shame!
