Code Red drill postponed
The Code Red drill scheduled to take place on Tuesday has been postponed.
The drill was planned for 8:30, toward the end of first block. Principal Phillip Gainous announced the postponement at 8:00.
Instead, students and staff were instructed to turn on their televisions at 8:46 for the nationally televised services in memorial of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
President Bush gave a five-minute speech commemorating those killed in the attacks and praising the armed services for their ongoing war on terrorism. "Today," he said, "the wrong is being righted."
The speech began at 8:46 AM, when the attack began. Bush condemned those responsible, saying "they saw liberty and thought they saw weakness ... and now they see defeat."
The speech was followed by New York City police officer Daniel Rodriguez singing "We Will Go On."
