Newsbrief: PSAT scores quarantined

by Joe Howley, Page Editor and Kevin Chang, Page Editor
PSAT scores of thousands of Blair students are currently under quarantine in a New Jersey post office.

Detection of anthrax on various letters received by government offices downtown has led to a freeze on all outgoing mail at the Hamilton postal facility near Trenton, New Jersey. The PSAT scores were being processed at that post office at the time of the freeze and have not yet been checked for anthrax contamination.

Blair administration recieved word ot the delay late Thursday afternoon and made a schoolwide announcement regarding the scores just before the end of sixth period. When the school will recieve the scores remains unclear, but special arrangements will be made with the College Board, which administers the tests regarding students' official scores and National Merit Scholar status, if the scores have not been recieved by January 31, 2002.

The College Board has posted a statement about the problems at http://www.collegeboard.org/press/html0102/html/011206a.html.
