Terrorism teach-in held
The Blair Social Action Club organized a teach-in to inform students about the War on Terrorism.
The teach-in was held on Thursday January 10th from 2:15-4:00 in the SAC. Discussion centered on alternatives to the war in Afghanistan and on civil liberties. Students discussed exactly what is going on in the United States, Afghanistan and around the world.
U.S. History teacher George Vlasits said the purpose of the teach-in was to educate students about the other options besides war. “[The teach-in is meant to] present some alternatives to what we hear from the government and the news," said Vlasits and to hear “voices which are critical on the war."
According to Vlasits, juniors Rachel Yood and Cory Choy have been the “principal movers and shakers" in organizing the teach-in. Blair’s Student Action Club, Amnesty International, Student Democrats, and Students for Global Responsibility sponsored the event, as well.
