Maryland District 4 House Seat Candidates

Incumbent: Albert Wynn (D)

Albert Wynn has held the Maryland District 4 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1993. He earned a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law School. Wynn has consistently been a proponent of public education and has voted against allowing private school vouchers. Throughout his tenure in Congress, Wynn has fought to protect the salaries and benefits of federal employees. He sponsored legislation increasing the minimum wage and access to child care. He currently serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and is a Deputy Democratic Whip.

Challenger: John Raymond McKinnis (R)

John McKinnis currently resides in Silver Spring. After graduating from high school, McKinnis volunteered as an international relief worker in South America and Asia. He later received a B.A. in Information Systems Management from University College of Maryland. McKinnis believes in empowering business and community relationships to spur economic growth. He supports improving education by increasing parental involvement and protecting and strengthening social security. He also advocated increasing access to health care for the uninsured and for small businesses.
