What time is it? Game time!

by Alexis Egan, Online Entertainment Editor
For students without game consoles such as Playstation and Wii, the Internet is perfectly adapted for easy and quick gaming. But teens looking for a quick break often find themselves immersed in a world of bag games promoting boxy graphics and cheesy concepts. Fortunately, there are easier ways to find enjoyable games to play that are both easy to learn and fun to play.
In "Trogdor the Burninator," players try to eat natives and burn houses, while dodging the swords and arrows of knights.

Bubble shooter
This addictive game requires fine honed skills of patience and hand-eye coordination. The premise is that the player shoots bubbles of color towards a line of colored bubbles without having bubbles clump together. If the color of the shooting bubble matches the shade of the one it hits, then several lines, or at least a few, disappear, getting you closer to the goal of removing all of the bubbles.

Text Twist
Fans of crossword puzzles and scrabble will adore "Text Twist," an online word game that provides the player with six letters and the number of words you can make using the letters, including one word using all six. It's up to the player to mix and match the letters to create the target number of words in a limited amount of time. Nearly impossible to win, "Text Twist" is the type of game where an hour will pass easily without even noticing.

Don't Shoot the Puppy
"Don't Shoot the Puppy" combines some of the best parts of the online world: animated violence with tested patience. The game opens as a puppy saunters across the screen with a machine gun trained on its furry head, but as soon as the computer mouse is moved - blam, the puppy explodes. A bizarre game that entertains only for a few minutes, "Don't Shoot the Puppy" gets acknowledgment for its humor and offbeat test of patience and waiting.

Boxhead: The Rooms
Zombies simultaneously resemble Lego men and Frankenstein in this Dawn-of-the-Dead-esque campy online game. Players take the role of a zombie hunter trying to destroy as many of the living dead as possible before dying. Weapon upgrades and various levels add to the complexity of the game, but Boxhead remains simple enough: if you can shoot quick enough and in the right direction, winning is a guarantee.

Trogdor the Burninator
Fans of laughable eighties-style computer games and video games will appreciate "Trogdor the Burninator," featuring a character from the popular Homestar Runner cartoons. Trogdor, a dragon complete with tiny wings, stick legs and a singular muscular arm, Trogdor must stomp on peasants while avoiding getting "swarrowed" - stabbed by swords and arrows - by marauding knights. Each level gets progressively harder has the dragon struggles to reach "burnation," a fire-breathing power received from killing ten or more peasants.

Although the Internet holds an endless supply of online games involving all sorts of ideas, from human-dragon hybrids to rooms of bubbles, it can be hard to sift the good from the bad. These five games are perfect to use for a quick break in between hours of school work and studying as long as you don't waste your time sifting through games to waste your time.
