Fire drill disrupts sixth period
A planned fire drill took place at 12:49 today, just as sixth period was beginning.
Students followed regular evacuation procedures and most were in the stadium in just over 10 minutes, an improvement from the last fire drill, which took place a week ago, where students took 14 minutes to evacuate and were considered too slow.
The all-clear was sounded at 1:05 and students resumed classes normally. Today's drill was the second fire drill of the year; both drills this year were planned in advance. Last year, Blair fire alarms sounded 12 times, but only two alarms were planned drills. MCPS schools are required to have a minimum of 10 fire drills per school year.
