Pi day: revenge of the cupcakes

These cute, delicious and educational desserts take 3.14 by storm

On March 14, pi gets all the credit. It has helped countless mathematicians solve problems and make corny jokes, but pies are not the only food for the geometrically inclined. This year the cupcake is bringing geometry back. These cylindrical sweets not only contain a doughy center, chocolate and candy but they also have different formulas on them. Useful and tasty!

Pi day cupcakes
Prep time is about 35 minutes. Makes about 18 servings.

Kitchenware:
-1 spatula
-1 knife
-1 large bowl
-1 cutting board
-cupcake pan
-12 ruffled paper cups

Ingredients:
-chocolate frosting
-2 eggs
-1 package of cupcake mix
-1/4 cup vegetable oil
-3/4 cups water
-package of Twizzlers

Preparation:


1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees for shiny metal pans or 325 degrees for dark or nonstick pans. Place paper baking cup in each of the 12 regular-size muffin cups.
2. In the large bowl, mix eggs, vegetable oil, cake mix and water. Mix until there are no clumps. Divide batter evenly among the paper cups.
3. Bake 18 to 23 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of a muffin comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing cupcakes from the pan to cooling rack.
4. Spread chocolate frosting on cupcakes.
5. Cut twizzlers into desired size. Use twizzlers to make favorite formulas… such as : Area = pi * (radius)^2.
