"Oz" never ceases to amaze

Prepare to be transported to Oz once again, but don't be surprised if the Merry Old Land of Oz isn't as merry as you once remembered. The journey along the Yellow Brick Road may seem much darker as director Sam Raimi's prequel "Oz the Great and Powerful" reveals the story of that man behind the curtain that we were instructed to pay no attention to in the original.

An impressive, "Brave" heroine

Pixar bravely introduces a host of firsts, including its first fairytale and its first heroine in its new animated hit, "Brave." Following in the trend of shying away from the classic damsel-in-distress, the movie's independent and fierce princess immediately promises a very different fairytale with unique characters that moviegoers have come to expect from Pixar.

Mad for Madagascar

For those who only saw the preview of "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" and thought it was just going to be another children's movie, think again. In reality, the previews did not do the movie justice as the film's many humorous moments are surprisingly quite the opposite of the typical juvenile comedy.

The cost of another dimension

Three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopy has a reputation for being a gimmicky piece of technology that is hastily used in movies to make more money. With the surge in old films being released in 3D, filmmakers are encouraging the industry to value profits over fan loyalty. The recent re-release of "Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace" epitomizes this trend.
