Varsity baseball defeats Springbrook

There were two different ball games played at Blair last night. The first took place in the first four innings of play, when the varsity baseball team (4-6) struggled to hold the Springbrook Blue Devils (4-5) even. The second took place after the bottom of the fifth inning when the Blazers broke open a major lead and brought home a welcome victory of 10-2.

Bengals bash Blazers

Already reeling from a two-game losing streak, the boys' varsity baseball team added another loss to their record after falling 8-1 to the Blake Bengals.

Trojans trample varsity baseball

Despite cheers and a defensive rally in the final inning, the varsity baseball team (2-3) lost to the Gaithersburg Trojans (3-2) by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Blazers scored their only two runs in the first and second inning, remaining scoreless throughout the following six innings. Gaithersburg capitalized on simple fielding errors that cost Blair the victory and led to runs by the Trojans.

For 2012 season Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that it will allow two additional teams to make the playoffs. Let the insanity begin.

Varsity baseball trumps Titans

The varsity baseball team (2-1) defeated the Einstein Titans (0-3) by a score of 8-3. The game started off strong with Blair scoring four runs in the first inning. They prevented the Titans from scoring until the top of the fourth. The Titans attempted to come back from Blair's 6-0 lead, but the Blazers fought hard and kept their opponents at bay to secure their second win of the season.

Blazers conquer Coyotes

The varsity baseball team (1-0) defeated the Clarksburg Coyotes (0-1) by a score of 7-5 in the first game of the season. The Blazers started the game off slow, but they were able to pick up momentum and build a 7-2 lead before the Coyotes scored three runs in the final inning. Although the team holds a new coaching staff and several new faces on the varsity squad, the Blazers stuck together to win their first game of the season.

Baseball is back

All is calm in the baseball world. But the tranquility will be short lived as the frenzy of the first games will begin later this week.

Unnoticed and unexplained

For some reason, college baseball's 2010 NCAA championship had slightly over one million viewers, which can only serve as an indicator for the upcoming 2011 College World Series.

Varsity baseball knocked out of playoffs

Blair baseball (13-8) lost its first playoff game to the Walter Johnson Wildcats (8-10) by a score of 6-4. The game was the last for head coach John McDonald, and he was not disappointed in his team's performance.

Varsity baseball downs Damascus

Varsity baseball (13-7) pulled off an unusual 3-2 win against the Damascus Hornets (5-11). Thanks to a catcher's interference in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Blazers earned a W in the last regular season game of coach John McDonald’s career.
