Bitten by the bug bug

There are roughly 10 quintillion (10,000,000,000,000,000,000) bugs on the planet earth and 150 million square kilometers of dry land. That means that there's roughly 20,000 insects per square foot. While that might make some people's skin crawl, the students in Elizabeth Duval's ninth period entomology class are an exception to the rule.

Blair students participate in the People's Climate March

On April 29, the 100th day of Donald Trump's presidency, over 200,000 people, including many students from Blair, took to the streets of DC and surrounded the White House as part of the People's Climate March.

Redefining the hazy Blazer

The Blazer is one of the more cryptic mascots in MCPS. Einstein's Titan or Kennedy's Cavalier, just to name a few, are pretty simple to figure out, and even reuse the logos of other prominent sports teams like the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Cavaliers. At Blair, different students have different ideas of what the Blazer is. In fact, there are different Blazers all over Blair.

Ooh ah, you wish you were a Blazer!

In basketball, and all sports, female athletes work just as hard as their male counterparts, and should therefore be given the same respect. Girls’ sports teams should be referred to without the preceding "Lady."

Blazers downed by taller Cavaliers team

As the clock wound down, a frustrated Blair varsity girls' basketball team had been worn down by a short-benched, but taller Kennedy team. The Blazers lost 40-31 in a long game marred by turnovers from both sides as the Cavaliers pulled away late in the third quarter to grab the win on Tuesday night.

Blazers take the Boulevard in season opener

The Montgomery Blair Blazers (1-0) used a huge offensive first quarter to obliterate the cross-Boulevard rival Northwood Gladiators (0-1) 48-3 in the Battle of the Boulevard on Friday.

After uncertain start, Blair hockey in front

Before the puck dropped on Blair’s Nov. 7 opener against the Rockville Rams, there were many questions about whether Blazer Hockey would even be able to field a team. Due to an unusual influx of underclassmen (see Sasha Tidwell’s Sept. 25 story detailing the problem here) the team was under threat from being registered as a multi high school (co-op) team.

Boys’ Basketball overcomes turnovers, downs Wheaton

Coming off a road loss earlier in the week, the Blazers (2-1) knew they couldn't underestimate the Wheaton Knights (1-2). While the Knights hung around for the first three quarters of the game, the Blazers were able to eventually pull away and win comfortably 59-42.

Hot drinks for cold weather

One of the best parts of the fall and winter is being able to enjoy a warm beverage when it's chilly outside. However, most of us are not seasoned chefs or baristas. With that in mind, here are some recipes for hot drinks that you can't mess up.
