Down, but not out

There was a loose ball, and a pileup ensued. The play moved to the other end of the court, and everyone in the stands followed the action, except for Dawn Smith, senior Gabrielle Smith’s mother, who was focused on her daughter. Blazer shooting guard Gabrielle didn’t get up and follow the play like everyone else. She lay on the gym floor curled up in a ball.

Lady Blazers slide by Cavaliers

The girls' varsity basketball team (2-0) narrowly beat the Kennedy Cavaliers (0-2) by a score of 46-44.

Lady Blazers conquer Coyotes

The Blair Girls' Varsity basketball team (1-0) defeated the Clarksburg Coyotes (0-1) on Tuesday night in a nail-biting season opener, 57-49. Blair bested evenly matched Clarksburg through pin-point passing, a tough defense and a rugged offense.

Patriots sneak past Lady Blazers in playoffs

In their first playoff game of the season, girls' varsity basketball lost to the Wootton Patriots, bringing an end to a successful season with a narrow four-point loss. Blair (10-12) lost to Wootton (12-10) by a score of 52-56.

Lady Blazers trounce Wildcats on Senior Night

It was not a fight on senior night for the varsity girls' basketball team. The Lady Blazers comfortably defeated the Walter Johnson Wildcats (8-12) by a score of 71-53.

Girls' varsity basketball dominates Magruder Colonels

A combination of skill and intensity enabled the Lady Blazers to defeat the Magruder Colonels 75-37 on Wednesday. The team controlled the game with aggressive defensive strategies. After scoring the first point within 20 seconds, the girls played consistently throughout the rest of the game.
