Recap of Blair's spring sports playoffs

Unlike last year, this spring season brought mostly lackluster playoffs to center stage. The season certainly didn't end the way any Blazer athlete would have liked. Baseball and boys' and girls' lacrosse did not make it as far as they did last season, while softball was the only team that made it to exactly where they were last year but faltered once again, yielding zero state championships this season. Let's now take a look at how each team fared in its respective bracket.

Girls’ lacrosse loses playoff game against Springbrook

The season came to an end for the girls’ lacrosse team (6-8) after they lost to the Springbrook Devils (12-1) in a grueling match Friday afternoon. The game began evenly with both teams’ defenses holding strong, but Springbrook eventually gained the upper hand and won 7-3.

Deja vu in win for girls’ lacrosse

On a rainy Wednesday night, the girls’ lacrosse team beat the Paint Branch Panthers yet again in their first game of playoffs. The game was strangely reminiscent of their match against Paint Branch in the regular season which finished with the same score 15-9.

Girls’ Lacrosse crush the Knights on Senior Night

The Blair girls’ lacrosse team (5-7) celebrated a Senior Night victory against the Wheaton Knights (2-10) with a final score of 15-4. From the beginning it was going to be a night for the seniors on the team and they showed this with all of the senior attack getting on the scoreboard in their dominating performance.

Blair girls' lacrosse weathers the storm against Springbrook

On a wet Monday evening, the Blair's girls' lacrosse team (3-4) took on the Springbrook Blue Devils. Despite going down 3-0 in the first half, the Blazers continued to fight back until, minutes into the second half, flashes of lightning and rumbling thunder disrupted the match. Both teams were forced to postpone resuming the game until Wednesday, where Blair lost the hard-fought game 8-6.

Girls’ lacrosse snags a comfortable win against Paint Branch

It was a strong and comfortable night for the girls’ varsity lacrosse (2-3) as they soundly defeated the Paint Branch Panthers (1-4) with a final score of 15-9.

Girls' lacrosse dispatches Northwood

Slow moments were few and far between in the Blair girls' varsity lacrosse’s (4-3) victory over the Northwood Gladiators (3-3) Tuesday.

Blazers demolish Cavaliers in near shutout

The Blair girls’ varsity lacrosse team (5-3) trounced the Kennedy cavaliers (0-8) by a score of 18-1. The Lady Blazers took hold of the game from the beginning and never relinquished the lead.

B-CC tramples boys’ varsity lacrosse

Despite a strong start, the boys' varsity lacrosse team (0-2) fell to the B-CC Barons (1-1) by a final score of 14-4. The Blazers struggled offensively, especially in the second half, and were unable to make plays at crucial moments.

Girls' varsity lacrosse freezes out Kennedy

The varsity girls' lacrosse team (1-1) defeated the Kennedy Cavaliers (0-2) by a score of 19-4 in their home opener on Thursday.
