Montgomery County officials aim to improve housing conditions

On Sept. 7, during a public event at Pooks Hill Tower and Court apartments in Bethesda, Montgomery County Executive Isiah (Ike) Leggett announced a program that aims to educate lower-income tenants of their rights as renters.

County budget closes gaps, opens projects

While the overall county budget increase for 2016 is minimal at 1.1 percent, new projects coupled with a major effort to close the budget gap ensure sufficient growth. A slow economic recovery and reduced state assistance merit the proposed conservative budget as highly appropriate and beneficial for the coming fiscal year.

Montgomery County should do more for the homeless

The donations will go to "grassroots efforts" to help those in need. A charitable idea, yet one that is ultimately about driving homeless from the area and is evidence of growing disdain for the homeless in Montgomery County.

County libraries receive extended hours

Starting Sept. 16, Montgomery County Public Libraries will extend the hours of operation of several of its branches.
