Disney remaking animated classics into live-action films

A tale as old as time gets a makeover

Disney’s animated classic, “Beauty and the Beast”, is back with Emma Watson as Belle, and Dan Stevens as the Beast. The story is beautifully done and adds another dimension to a timeless classic.

Rogue One heck of a movie

In this age of tired remakes and reboots, it's easy to be cynical. Popular franchises (I'm looking at you, The Hobbit) release low-quality, uninspired hogwash to trick dedicated viewers into paying money for movies they don't need. But, Rogue One proved to be different.

"Moana" makes waves

The Disney princess franchise hits the mark again with "Moana", the story of a chief's daughter (not a princess), Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), who takes an adventure on the sea with the company of a shape-shifting demigod, Maui (Dwayne Johnson), and an irritating but lovably dim witted rooster to save the world from complete ecological destruction (pretty standard, as Disney films go). Though the plot may drag a little, "Moana" is a heartfelt and exciting movie for all.

Disney gives “Cinderella” a refreshing update

Director Kenneth Branagh creates a true fairy tale experience with his modernized “Cinderella.” He updates the film from its 1950s animated counterpart by adding depth to what has always been seen as a rather superficial storyline. By focusing on character development, beautiful visual effects and costumes, he proves that he can excel in any film genre.

"McFarland, USA" is another standard Disney movie

The plot of "McFarland, USA" brings nothing surprising or extraordinary to the table, not to mention that Kevin Costner is yet again playing the "clueless mentor searching for answers" role.

Darkness and light, Love is might

Disney's animated version of "Sleeping Beauty" ends like any other Disney fairy tale: the characters all live happily ever after. Well, almost all of them do. When it comes to the evil fairy Maleficent, viewers are happy to forget that she even existed.

Ten Disney songs that describe Blazers

The end of the quarter is fast approaching, especially with all of those snow days, leaving Blazers scrambling for last minute grade changes to slip in before the quarter deadline closes.

Frozen is a heart-warming, snow-filled delight

Disney has done it again with another animation that enchants young and old alike. With lots of jokes, powerful songs, gorgeous animation and an adorable talking snowman, "Frozen" will melt any heart.

"We Can't Stop" talking about Miley's VMAs performance

If you are a person in America with a television set and/or Internet access, you know that pop singer Miley Cyrus gave a rousing, if not highly controversial, performance at MTV's Video Music Awards last Sunday.
