The unsung heroes of the Las Vegas shooting

On the night of October 1, Stephen Craig Paddock opened fire on a crowd of over 22,000 people attending the Route 19 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the attack, 489 people were injured and 58 were pronounced dead. The tragedy will resonate for years to come as the largest individual mass shooting in modern American history.

Mass shooting occurs in Orlando night club

29-year-old Omar Mateen shot down people in Pulse, a popular gay nightclub, in Orlando, Florida, killing 49 and injuring 53 others on Sunday, June 12. This marks the 133rd mass shooting in 2016 and the largest one in American history.

Violence propelled by entitlement

Rodger's viral address and the shooting that occurred soon after, reminded America of the lingering sexist tendencies and feelings of entitlement that continue to hinder gender equality and promote violence.

Local PTAs advocate for gun control

On Feb. 26, the Blair Cluster's "School Safety and Sensible Gun Policies" resolution was presented to the Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations (MCCPTA). The resolution, sponsored by committee co-chairs Ed Feigen and Ina Schonberg, aims to increase gun control and improve mental health policies.

The land of opportunity

On Sunday, a man walked into the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin and, without a word, opened fire. The suspect, Wade Michael Page, had a 9-millimeter (semi-automatic) pistol, ammunition pouches and the goal to end lives. And he succeeded, leaving six dead and three others wounded.
