Happy New Year, Blazers. The theme for this month's Hot Sheet is New Year's Resolutions. I mean, who doesn't make New Year's Resolutions? Well, Blazers, I say we start this new year off with a bang. So, for the Blazers out there who are just starting to read The Hot Sheet this year, I hope you enjoy. A little background info on The Hot Sheet: well, it's all the HOT information on all the HOT things of today, like movies, fashion, advice, celebrity hook-ups and break-ups, T.V., what's in and what's out and a student fashion panel to give its opinion on today's fashion. Also, Blazers, since this is a New Year, I thought, how about change? Change is good, so I decided to bring in a friend of mine to help out on the article: sophomore Dilsia Menjivar. So, my fellow Blazers, it's time to pop open a bottle of Apple Cider because it's almost time. 5,4,3,2,1...Happy New Hot Sheet!

Blazers, the new year has arrived, as well as hundreds of new fashion ideas. The month of January always goes by so quick, meaning so will a lot of trends. So, basically, you have to stick with the one that will last, yours. Trends get started by one person, and if they're lucky, they sweep the nation, but probably have the life span of Spring Break, about 10 days. The key to all of this is to be yourself this year, and that doesn't mean you have to wear the same style of clothes everyday. Because this is a New Year, you can start fresh and try something different, but that doesn't mean you aren't yourself; you're you from within.

Boys: Because this is a new year, and you wanna switch things up, I say, if you're a preppy guy, try modern comfort, which means take off the long-sleeved polo top and exchange for a hoodie. Another example would be, if you're a sports-wear guy, try to switch it up with a nice button-down shirt. But guys, just remember, just because you're wearing a new style absolutely doesn't mean you have to wear a new personality.

Girls: Last year, you took my advice and tried new ideas in fashion. But what you don't know is that there are so many interchangeable clothes styles. I say, take a pair of your most deconstructed jeans (a faded pair of jeans with a few rips) and match it with one of your nice silk, long camisole tops. Or take a pair of camo flairs and match it with a winter floral button down top and a pair of VANS. The whole idea is to be a risk taker. The clothes items that you never thought would match do.

Blazers, the Committee is here. The Committee consists of a few fashionable students who tell us what clothes they like this season. So let's hear what they have to say.

Junior Jonathon Romero: "I like to wear baggy clothes like jeans and Dickies and stuff like that. I wear high-top shoes and Crew socks with white tees and black tees."
Sophomore Kippy Falwell: "I like to wear skateboarding clothes, loose jeans, ankle socks and skater shoes. I buy things at Asylum."
Sophomore Hoa Pham: "I like to wear tight jeans. I usually wear black and blue outfits, and I shop mostly at LVLX and H&M."
Freshman Kiran Harris: "I feel most comfortable in jeans, and I like to wear gaming clothes like Mario bros."

Blazers! Are you ready? Come on...are you ready for the hottest celeb hook-ups and break-ups of the semester? Well, hold on to your seats because you're in for a bumpy ride.

Joel Madden & Hilary Duff - Aha. They're just friends, huh? Apparently not. Word has it Joel Madden is "madly in love" with teen queen Hilary Duff. He actually went so far as to defend her from her rival Lindsay Lohan. Personally, this is my favorite couple - even if the age difference is wild. Hey, what's nine years?

Enrique Iglesias & Anna Kournikova - The hottest couple of the year finally decided to tie the knot. These two love birds met at the set of Enrique's Escape video, and, since then, they've been seeing each other. It was fate, I tell you. Congratulations to the newlyweds.

Ashlee Simpson & Ryan Cabrera - Yup, You read it correctly; after an on-again, off-again relationship, Ryan and Ashlee are back together. I mean, why wouldn't they be; they practically live together.

Lindsay Lohan & Wilmer Valderrama - It was doomed from the beginning anyways. That's right, Lindsay and Wilmer are no longer together. The reason is still under wraps, but they still remain friends...or so they say. In late December, Lindsay co-hosted on TRL, where, near the end of the show, she changed her shirt, and it read, "You weren't my boyfriend anyway!" She said she wanted to make a statement. Wait, wait, wait...didn't she say they were friends?

Emily Van Camp & Benjamin McKenzie - Yup, that's right. Amy from Everwood and Ryan from The O.C. hooked up. Rumors have it they were seen making out at the back of a club. Both talented actors make an awesome couple!

Lindsay Lohan & Colin Farrell - Buh bye Wilmer, hello Colin. This unlikely couple was spied smooching at a club and reportedly spent the night together at his hotel. But wait, I've seen this before...Oh yea that's right, her idol Britney Spears did the same thing. What's next? Making out with Madonna?

Barbie & Ken - After 43 years, the hottest plastic couple are calling it quits. Barbie is already on the move, snatching herself an Australian hunk, while poor Ken questions his sexuality. What has this world come to?

Chad Michael Murray & Sofia Bush - Still a strong and beautiful couple. The One Tree Hill pair still haven't set a wedding date, but one can tell they really are in love. I can almost hear their wedding bells.

Paris Hilton & Ryan Gosling - Who hasn't had a night in Paris or dated Paris Hilton? Now she has The Notebook's Ryan Gosling by her side. They were seen snuggling it up at a NYC restaurant. Its only a matter of time until this couple is history.

Brandy & Quentin Richardson - Brandy is finally really getting married. Quentin popped the question with an 11 1/2 carat rock that could blind you. You know what they say: diamonds are a girl's best friend.

**Hey Blazers, lets give credit to my protégé, Dilsia Menjivar, for hooking us up with so much great info and laughs.

Senior Zach Cohen: My question is about saving money. As much as I try, I can never save. I am going to need to start saving my money soon, but how?

Hot Sheet Advice:

Zach you asked a great question. I think, because we are all so young, it's hard. I mean, we're teenagers. We don't really take the time to think about saving money for college or anything. A lot of teenagers have this problem, including me. So I came up with a plan called "The Three Jar System," which is basically a system plan you follow to keep your money separately saved in three sections: College, Stuff and Everyday. You start by getting three jars that you can save money in. Title all of them one through three. The first being College, the second being Stuff and the third being Everyday. The College jar is obviously for College savings, and the second jar is for exactly what it's titled: stuff -- basically for anything you need to save for, like a pair of shoes or concert tickets. The last one, the Everyday jar, is just for everyday things that you need money for, like lunch or if you and friends are going to the movies. You will save your money according to how much you get from work or allowance or even pocket change; anything counts. You don't have to have a job to save money. Whatever money you have, take 60% of it and put that in the College jar. Next, you'll put 25% in the Stuff jar, and the last 15% you will put in the Everyday jar. By following this easy routine plan, you can save your money the right way. I hope all you teens out there follow this plan because it works. I should know. I used to be addicted to spending cash. Blazers, we need to start saving for the most important thing of all: our future.

**Need advice on something Blazers? Well, ask me anything, and I'll give my advice on it next time!
