The Boys' Volleyball team soundly defeated the B-CC Barons this afternoon, 15-5, 15-4, improving their record to 8-2.

In the first game, the Blazers jumped to a quick 4-0 lead. After a brief lull, the Blazers surged ahead, increasing their lead to 11-2, before finally putting the Barons away. Blair finished the game strongly, getting kills from seniors Robert Day and William Hwang.

The Blazers started off the second game much slower, struggling to break out of a 2-2 deadlock with B-CC. But after establishing a 7-4 lead, the Blazers took over the rest of the game with an 8-0 run. B-CC managed to hit more aggressively toward the end of the game, but it was too late.

The Blazers had to adapt to a new lineup because of five missing players. All the team's sophomores were absent due to the Magnet Wallops Island field trip. Hwang praised the Blazers for adjusting well to the new lineup.

One reason why Blair could adjust so well was the play of senior Daniel Kim. Coach Rajesh Rathnam was impressed with Kim's consistent setting. Hwang agreed. "This was his best game of the year," Hwang said. "He was very solid, and made very smart decisions."

Rathnam also pointed out Blair's good passing and defense. One spectator called this game Blair's "most complete game of the year."

With just two games left on their schedule, Blair will likely make the playoffs. Hwang noted the importance of depth in the playoffs, which he said Blair exhibited today by winning with its depleted lineup. The Blazers have also become more cohesive recently. "We've come together as a team over the past couple of games," said Rathnam. "If we keep going we'll peak at playoff time."
