Slow and unsteady doesn't win the game

OCT 10, BLAZER STADIUM—

The Blazers went onto the field for today's game looking slightly sluggish. When the whistle blew signaling the start of the game, the team's intensity didn't improve much allowing Blake to beat Blair 3-0.

A discrepancy in front of the goal led to a direct penalty shot, yielding a 1-0 lead for Blake early in the first half. The Blazers were unable to stop the Blake offense in the second half allowing two more goals by the game's end.

While most of the Blair team looked lackluster in today's game, junior offender Julia Penn played aggressively, taking the majority of Blair's few shots on goal. Coach Amy Von Schirach agrees. "We were a little off as a team," she said, "but Julia Penn had a really good game."

Following the midseason mark, the Blazer game improved tremendously from the season's start. The passes were accurate, the team hustled to the ball, and the defensive clears opened up opportunities for the Blazer offense. According to Von Schirach, today's game did not reflect that intensity and ultimately cost Blair the game. "We didn't play well, we weren't synchronized. Consequently Blake was and we lost because of it," she said.

The Blazers' next game is against Magruder on Oct. 16 at Magruder.
