Summer Plans:
Him: "I plan to do a lot of biking, while definitely hanging out with friends and seeing summer blockbusters."
Her: "I want to get a job in [Downtown Silver Spring] and volunteer at the Brookside Nature Center."

Weirdest thing you've eaten:
Him: "Wasabi"
Her: "Chocolate-covered cricket"

Celebrity you most identify with (and why!):
Him: "I guess I would most identify with Hayden Christensen, because he kind of looks like me sometimes."
Her: "Halle Berry, because she hasn't let Type I diabetes keep her from living her life to the fullest. I also have Type I diabetes."

Your romantic history in three words:
Him: "Borat did better"
Her: "Crushes from afar"

Friday, May 11

When Blair Pair's final couple was introduced after eighth period, neither had been on a blind date before. But that didn't stop them from getting acquainted quickly and starting a flow of chatter that would carry them through the afternoon.

Peter: "Lisa got there first. We walked outside, and we started talking about CAP because she's in CAP 11 and I am in CAP 10 and so we talked about classes that we've both taken and what I should expect for next year."
Lisa: "I got there first because I have no eighth period and he does. Right away we started talking because we had a lot in common. He's in CAP and so am I, even though he's a year younger than me, so we've had the same teachers and it turned out he had even gone to Eastern [Middle School] too."

School talk dominated the conversation until the two arrived at the restaurant, Fajita Coast. Then, over chips and salsa, the daters engaged in a tête-à-tête about their other interests.

Peter: "We also talked about different extracurricular activities to try and get to know each other. I do BNC, which I guess isn't really an extracurricular but I spend a lot of time on it, and drumline. She was into music. In fact, she told me that later that night she was going to be playing guitar for the InToneNation concert."
Lisa: "We talked…about movies and TV shows – we both watch the same stuff. I think half an hour passed before we picked up a menu."

During their time out, neither dater felt any long pauses or embarrassing moments hinder their fun.

Peter: "I was really impressed. I would say there were only two awkward silences, each lasting maybe 5 seconds, so we had a lot to talk about. I was worried we'd have nothing to talk about and I'd get paired with someone I had nothing in common with, but no, it went well."
Lisa: "It went very smoothly, I was nervous, but in a good way – I was really excited. But nothing extraordinary happened. We did think it was cool that I have a sister in the eighth grade at Eastern [Middle School] and he has a sister who's in the seventh grade there."

After their meal, Peter and Lisa went to Starbucks for a little relaxation before their date wound down.

Peter: "I think we left [Fajita Coast] around 4:15 p.m. and then we went over to Starbucks. I suggested that we go over there and she was okay with it, but then when we got there, it turned out she didn't drink coffee. [I thought it] was kind of weird, but I mean it was fine, maybe just a little inconvenient."
Lisa: "We went to Starbucks and he ordered a drink and then offered to buy me something, which was nice, but I declined. He had to get home and I was going downtown, and we both took the same bus, which was nice."
Peter: "We both got on the [bus], I went home and she went on to Downtown Silver Spring because she had that concert later."

Both daters saw the possibility of a future friendship from the date, though they are unsure about the romantic connection.

Peter: "Well, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. I don't think there's a big romantic connection but we'll definitely talk again. I was kind of worried after reading the other Blair Pairs that I'd come out hating the person or something, but no, I thought it worked out. I definitely made a friend."
Lisa: "Well I have nothing to base [the rating] off of because I've never dated before, but I guess I would say 4.95 out of 5 because it was really good…I look forward to talking to him again. We'll see where things go."
