JV Volleyball beats Springbrook 2-1

OCT 21, NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM-

After losing the first game 13-25, Blair came back and won two consecutive games (25-21, 15-11) to win the match against Springbrook. This win makes their season record 6-5. Although there was still definite lack of communication, Blair's strong serves gave them what they needed to overcome Springbrook.

Springbrook started with a bang, getting a head-start of 9-2 in minutes, and kept the lead throughout the first game. This changed as the two teams entered the second game, which was evenly matched until Blair pulled away, turning a 20-20 into 25-21 victory. The third game was similar, with Blair taking the last few points after a close start.

Captain Damaris Garay was happy with the results. "We lost track during the first game but afterwards we had a good comeback. We got it together, serving better and playing more as a team," she says.

One incident of Blair's lack of communication was when in the second game the referee noticed the players mixed up their placements, giving the prior point they had earned to Springbrook. This mistake was countered by a risky, diving block that allowed the Blazers to win yet another point.
