Blazers show school spirit during Blair Apparel Day

On Friday, February 14, Blazers showed their love for each other and for the school through Blair Apparel Day.

The SGA attempted to have a spirit week for the days leading to the winter pep rally, but it was never approved. "Ideally, the school has one spirit week (prior to Homecoming)," Assistant Principal Linda Wanner said. "It was not about taking it away; it was never there in the first place."

Instead, the SGA held Blair Apparel Day, encouraging students to show their school spirit by proudly displaying their red and white. "These are the kinds of things I like to see the students doing," Wanner said.

During both lunch periods, members of the SGA, calling themselves the "Prize Patrol", meandered Blair Boulevard and the SAC rewarding spirited students with prizes such as candy, Blazer tattoos, window decals and lanyards. "We think especially with the times and this year, we want to increase school spirit in general by giving out prizes to get people more spirited," said SGA treasurer Sophie Strike. "We hope that people see that the student government is doing something and thus become more in contact with the SGA."

Hoping to continue increasing school spirit, the SGA plans to repeat Blair Apparel Day in the future. "Definitely for the spring pep rally, maybe before," said Strike.
