September 25, NELSON H. KOBREN MEMORIAL GYMNASIUM-
In two drawn out back-and-forth games, the Blair girls' volleyball team was defeated by Springbrook High School with scores of 6-15 and 7-15.
Blair coach Jamie Franck blamed the loss on miscommunication and tardiness on the court. Possession changed 22 times in the second game for an unusually high 44 serves, attributed by Franck to errors rather than competitive play. "Instead of proper execution, their sideouts were because of our mistakes," he said.
Springbrook sophomore Sherryta Stokes played well, dominantly spiking the ball several times for points.
Franck was also unhappy with Blair's failure to learn from last week's match against Magruder, which sometimes set the ball over the net on their second hit. Springbrook successfully employed the same strategy several times. "We played confused, like we haven't touched the volleyball in two weeks," he said.
Blair's next game is Saturday, September 29, at Whitman at 10:00 a.m.
