Bulldogs take a bite out of Blazers

In their last home game of the season, the girls' basketball team was looking for an upset over a talented Churchill High School squad. However, the Blazers, who committed turnover after turnover, were looking in all the wrong places.

Dropping their record to 7-13, the Blazers still have games remaining against Wheaton and Kennedy high schools before the playoffs begin. But with a convincing loss to Churchill, 62-39, the Blazers hopes of a playoff run are diminishing.

At the end of the first half, Blair was only down 28-22 because of effective scoring in the post, especially by sophomores Carey Bartlett and Emily Ramsay.

After the break, however, things fell apart for the Blazers. Going on a 15-0 run to start the third quarter, Churchill held Blair scoreless for almost six minutes. Going in to the fourth quarter, the Blazers were no longer in contention, down by 22 points.

Ramsay and Bartlett were the Blazers high scorers, each netting seven points. Seniors Ashley Moorefield and Latasha Peace, and sophomore Mckenzie Robinson each contributed four points.

From the free throw line, the Blazers showed great improvement, making nine of thirteen free throws. Blair's shooting from the line was vital during the second half, in which they made only five field goals, compared to nine in the first half.
