As new albums, shows, and movies are released each month it can be hard to keep up. Luckily, our fellow Blazers are doing it for us. To get a better handle on music, thrifting, fashion, and more we interviewed a few Blazers who are especially in touch. The interviews have been transcribed and edited for clarity.

Yemi Hailu - Freshman

What have you been listening to this week?

Kinda a little bit of the artist Miguel. I've been listening to Coffee and Adorn [Also] Weekend by SZA. That's always my favorite song period. I don't listen to music by albums, I just listen to songs.

What's the last movie you watched?

The last movie I've watched is probably Legion. The plot was so good and I kind of got attached to the characters.

What show are you watching right now?

Criminal Minds.

What do you like about Criminal Minds?

Spencer Reid.

What about Spencer Reid? That man is fine. But other than that, nothing else. But that man is good-looking. That is the star of the show. And Hotch kinda, a little bit. I kinda got a thing for that man.

Emma Laviolette - Senior

What have you been listening to this week?

I just go based off of my daily list on Spotify. So right now, I've been listening to a lot of Faye Webster, and Brent Faiyaz, very different artists, but I like both of them. One song that I really like has been Rolling Stone by Brent Faiyaz. That song is so good.

Basically more low-key music. Just because I’ve been having a very low-key time in my life right now. Kali Uchis is releasing a lot of singles because she has a new album that hasn't been released yet, but it's coming up and I'm really excited for it. Because she's doing an all-Spanish album.

What was the last movie you watched?

I watched Saltburn this weekend, and it was crazy. It was crazy. My jaw was on the floor the entire time. It starred Jacob Elordi, and I actually don't know the main actor's name. I don't even know how to really describe it. It's not necessarily a horror movie, but it's definitely very off-putting if you watch it. I guess it’s a thriller. It was recently released in select theaters, and recently it just got a wider release.

I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. I think it's for people who are really into art history, and also if you’re okay with more disturbing movies. Otherwise, if you're not okay with being grossed out or gore, then you definitely shouldn't watch it.

What's something you’ve discovered in the culinary part of your life?

I mean, this isn't a new spot. But there's Frankly Pizza in Kensington and it's really good. And I like to go there occasionally. I was there recently and it was good.

Now for the star of the show. What is happening in the fashion world this week?

Okay, this week in the fashion world. Well, there's always a lot of stuff going on in the fashion world, but recently, I've been really into ballet flats. I'm wearing flats today, but they're not ballet flats. They’re specifically Repetto shoes and they're not quite flats because they have little heels to them, but they're very shiny and very sleek and very cute. Recently I've been more into softer colors, since it's fall transitioning to winter.

Ian Hammerstrom - Sophomore

What have you been listening to this week?

One of my favorite songs this week has been Fell In Luv by Playboi Carti. And I’ve been listening to The Beatles. I’ve been listening to the new Westside Gunn too. I listened to the album. And there were no songs I skipped right away. All of them were decent, and there's a few songs that are really good.

What's your favorite movie right now?

When I was young, I liked ECHO. I've watched it 20 times. I really like Seven . It's a horror movie with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. I want to watch Taxi Driver because I heard it's a good movie, but I don't have time.

How about fashion? Do you like thrifting? Do you have a unique spot where you go?

I used to go to one in the middle of Langley that no one knows about. I find designer there. I found all my best clothes there. It’s just a Value Village. I usually use the online store Depop. If I'm in class, and there's nothing to do I like going on Depop, I get a slew of stuff.

Be sure to check out the Blazers' recommendations!
