Do you think a 2.0 GPA should be a prerequiste for playing sports?

"Students should be required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average in order to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities. With this being a requirement, students must push themselves to do well academically. If this were not a requirement, then a lot of students would slack off in their classes.
Maintaining a 2.0 grade point average allows students to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities and manage to do reasonably well in their classes."
-freshman Katie Willmott

"I don't think it makes sense to not allow someone to participate in something they are really good at because they are not doing well in school. Even though
school is very important it still doesn't make sense. The problem is how do you find how to motivate those who are doing badly without taking something away from them."
-freshman Owen Sherrod

"I think that students should need 2.0 to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities. If a student cant get a 2.0 when not involved in other activities, how can they participate in these activities and keep their grades up."
-freshman Joseph Quinn

"I think that it is good to make the extra or athletic activities eligibility grade a 2.0 because this means you will have athletics who do good on the court and in the class room. To make it a 2.0 means that kids who don't try hard in the class don't get a chance to try out which is good because they might not try hard at practice or the game."
-sophomore Rodney Winston

"No, because sports and clubs have always been an outlet for many tens. When you take away that outlet what else do those people who aren't qualified going
to do? School is supposed to help us grow and provide us with more opportunities. By limiting some students your taking away those opportunities."
-freshman Willa Reddy

"I think that yes a student should need a 23.0 to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities because it takes up time and your education should
come first. The hours that you spent in an extracurricular activity you could spend doing your homework or studying to get your grades up."
-freshman Christina Hymes

"No, students should not need a 2.0 GPA of higher to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities. This is because some students want to turn in missing work because they were absent or sick. Sometimes, students cant turn in their work so their failing dropping their GPA lower than 2.0. This
prevents them from doing their after school activities."
-freshman Phillip Brown

"I do not think that a 2.0 GPA should be a prerequisite for playing sports. Without sports, students get uninvolved in school and lose interest in
classes. Often, being on a team provides the support needed to raise grades. Instead, students with a GPA of 2.0 or lower should be banned from playing in games but allowed to go to practice. This way, students will have incentive to do better without losing the thing they love."
-sophomore Rose Feinberg

"Yes students should need a 2.0 in order to participate in athletic or extracurricular activities because we do not want dumb people representing our
school. If you can keep up with your grades than you show responsibility in your activity. It is better to have intellectuals representing athletic activities."
-sophomore Yessenia Cruz

"No, students should not be required to have a 2.0 GPA. If a student cannot pull off a 2.0m they will only try hard enough to get the 2.0. It is pointless
to force athletes to get a 2.0."
-sophomore Arthur Leung

"Yes, I really do think students need a 2.0 to participate in athletics because if you don't have them focus on their academics then they really do bad.
You can't go to college without an education. It doesn't make any sense."
~sophomore Kafesha Stafford

"I think students should need a 2.0 GPA to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities. If students don't have a 2.0 and they really want to
play, they will try harder and bring up their GPA. The harder a student is pushed the harder they will work to bring their grades up to play. If you didn't have to have a 2.0 people will take advantage of the extracurricular activities. Athletic activities are privileges."
~sophomore Randall Holmes

"Students should be able to participate in athletic activities only if they have a 2.0 because I think athletic activities are a privilege I think it's easy
to get a 2.0."
~sophomore Kahlel Wright

"Students wanting to participate in athletics or extracurricular activities should be required to have a 2.0. A lot of students have no motivation to get
good grades and do well in school . But if the few students that want to participate, have something to motivate them to do better, then we will have better athletes and better students."
