Trouble with fundamentals costs Blair the game

APRIL 23, BLAZER STADIUM—

An ominous sky was the backdrop for a game that proved equally unpromising as Blair's Boys' Lacrosse team fell to the Swarming Hornets of Damascus, making their record 2-4. At the end of the first half the score was 4-10, and the Blazers never got a chance to come back as lightning was spotted with 11:08 left in the third quarter signaling the end of the game.

In the first quarter of play, Damascus came onto the field clearly as the stronger team. They made stronger passes, picked up ground balls on the first try, played a smart transition game, and took strong shots. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 1-6, Blair's only goal scored by junior Andrew Beach with 6:22 left in the quarter.

The second quarter showed signs of improvement in the Blazer squad. Senior co-captains Alex Berger, Josh Gottlieb-Miller and Kyle Cohen each put in one goal, raising the Blazers' score up to 4. By the time the whistle blew for half time, the Blazers had picked up intensity, yet never got to finish the game.

Despite the loss, the team has moved on to their next opponent according to Coach Robert Gibb. "We are already looking ahead to our next game," he said.

Their next game will be played April 27 at Kennedy at 7:00.
