Group to hold annual spring concert

Blair's student-run a capella choir, InToneNation, is holding auditions for new members from today, May 25, to Friday May 27 in Room 16 during both lunches. InToneNation encourages all students to try out with a short song and to attend their annual spring concert on Tuesday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 14.

Junior Nate Blustein, InToneNation's director, said that the choir group needs between five to ten new members, especially freshmen and sophomores, to join next year. "We only have two underclassmen right now and a lot of good people are graduating. We need [new people in] all sound parts," Blustein stated.

Auditions are no more than five minutes long and are held in the choral practice rooms with two to four student judges according to Blustein. "The try-outs are not very demanding," he claimed. "You come in, sing a short song that shows off your voice, we test you to see your range and that's it. All you need to do for the audition is to be relaxed, be prepared to sing, and have fun."

InToneNation will contact all who auditioned a few Sundays from now to tell those students whether or not they advance to the next round of try-outs, said Blustein. He explained that students who pass this week's preliminary auditions will have a call-back audition to prove their ability to learn new songs.

Signup sheets are posted outside of Room 16. If many students cannot go to try-outs this week, InToneNation is willing to extend auditions to next week, after the group's free spring concert where recordings of the performance will be sold. Blustein claims that the concert, to be held in the band room, will have a wide variety of music, including rock, madrigals, and other "really fun songs to sing." The concert is open to all, but in particular, Blustein recommends students who auditioned or are planning to audition to attend the concert. "They will see that InToneNation is a really great thing to be a part of, and how much fun they would have with other singers who want to make some good music," he elaborated.

For scheduling issues or general questions about InToneNation, contact Nate Blustein in Room 310 during Period 6, or email Linden Vongsathorn at linden.v@gmail.com.

June Hu. June Hu is probably staring at a cloud right now. This Magnet senior (O6!!!) tends to be a little obsessive about nature, as well as about the physiology of people's noses. There is a good and sane reason for that: June is an art freak. … More »
