Is school bus overcrowding a problem to you?

"School bus overcrowding is a major problem for me and most other students at Blair. It's worse for magnet students, who have middle schoolers on the bus taking up most of the seats before we get there. On our bus it's so hard it's so bad that many people have to stand just to make sure they make it home. In some cases, it would be better if the middle schoolers had their own buses. Then, the over crowding would be much less."
~ Freshman Olivia Bucel

"The school bus is very much all the time crowded we need more school buses to come and take some more students. Mainly there are students that find very annoying and sometimes people get hit by book bags or that person when they are standing because of over crowdedness that there is on the bus. Sometimes it is not overcrowded in the morning but then the afternoon it is. Mr. Gainous should know it is time to get more buses."
~Sophomore Jeanette Kelly

"My school bus is not over crowded. This is nice because the bus is quiet and everyone gets a seat. Unfortunately, the not overcrowded state of my bus resulted in a new stop being added in mornings. This stop is not in the bus's regular area and going there adds at least 10 minutes to my ride. I also have to get up to the bus stop five minutes earlier. This extra stop has made the bus overcrowded and noisy in the mornings and has severely limited my time to get to class. However, the bus does not make this stop in the afternoon, so my bus ride then is completed more quickly."
~ Freshman Lois Bangiolo

"School bus overcrowding is definitely a problem for me. My bus is always crowded, and I rarely get a seat. It is especially crowded on days with no after school activity buses, when the aisle is often crowded with people standing. In the mornings the bus isn't crowded because my stop was put on the end of a different buses morning route, which has less people riding. But in the afternoons, bus overcrowding is a major problem."

"The school bus overcrowding is a very large problem to me. In the afternoon, my bus is so crowded that there is barely and standing space left. Sometimes people even have to stand on the stairs. Getting a seat is only possible if you are released early from class. The bus is only that overcrowded on certain days of the week (usually Monday and Friday because there are no after school activity buses). School bus overcrowding is a very large problem for me and my bus, and I believe the school should deal with this problem."
~Freshman Pawel Przytychi

"Overcrowding school bus is not a problem with me because I catch the bus on the second stop so that wont be a problem to find seats. Our school bus is not really over crowded during after school or in the morning."
~FreshmanPerry Kamelo

"Bus overcrowding is a big issue. Everyday when I get on the bus it's so crowded. Since my stop is the last one all the seats are gone and we have to double up in the small stand throughout in entire ride. And it really doesn't help that the bus always stinks."
~Freshman Alex Andino

"It is not the overcrowding [that is] the problem it is the bus driver … He doesn't speak English and calls the students mean names in his language. If you are standing up on the bus he pushes very hard on the peddle so everyone can fall down, and if you are taking too long to get off the bus he'll make you miss your stop so you can walk almost a half at mile to get home. Maybe is we had less people on the bus and there was one stop he would be safer."
~Freshman De'era Dunbar

"Lots of my friends say their buses are way too crowded, but I never see overcrowding on my bus. Most of the people on my bus get their own seat, a few people share seats. The only problem I have with my bus, is it shows up late sometimes."
~FreshmanJoseph Quinn

"I don't think school buses are overcrowded because when I come on the bus I get a seat. When I get off school I don't have a problem getting on the bus because I always get a seat in the back and I never have to stand on the bus because I'm always the first to get on. When I miss the bus I just take the ride-on or the Metro Bus to the station."
~Freshman Abdou Gueye

"School bus overcrowding is definitely a problem for me while it isn't so bad this year, my bus two years ago was over filled almost everyday. I remember having three people crammed in to every seat and the aisle being completely full of people standing. The bus was still crowded even after they moved one stop to another route. This year, the bus is slightly better as a lot of people have graduated or started driving to school, but it still can be difficult to find a seat. Bus overcrowding is a major problem that transportation officials are only taking minor steps to fix."
~Freshman Eric Hyson

"My school bus is extremely overcrowded. We always have to sit at least three people to a seat and some people fall into the aisles. We aren't allowed to bring friends home on the bus because there is no room. This makes working on group projects difficult. I think it would be beneficial to split the people on my bus into two groups, and give each group its own bus."
~Freshman Amanda Liebrecht

"School bus overcrowding is a problem at Blair. Because the transportation department is slow on finances, my bus was switched to a smaller bus. Every Monday and Friday, when activity buses do not take students. People are left standing in the aisle. The situation is both unsafe and uncomfortable for students."
~Sophomore Alice Li

"Yes, school bus overcrowding is a problem for me. The reason why is said yes is because last year when I was attending a Prince George County School, we got in an accident. The bus was overcrowded and students were standing up, yelling out windows, playing and cussing at the bus driver. He got mad and tried to stop the bus and that's when we got hit by a car. I think the number of students in a bus should be enough, for everyone to have a seat on the bus, not standing. That's my reason for this question."
~Sophomore Nicaise Magui

"School bus overcrowding used to be a big problem on my bus. In the morning, students would be standing in the aisles while we were on the beltway because there weren't enough seats. In the afternoon it wasn't as bad, but there would be three or even four people squished into one seat. Luckily, a few months ago my bus routes changes and now there are less people on the bus, even if it does take longer to get to school and home."
~Sophomore Linden Vongsathorn
