Math teacher leaves Blair after three years
Math teacher Monty Mortensen will move to Atlanta, Georgia after this school year to be closer to his family.
Mortensen, who taught Algebra, Related Math and Statistics/Mathematical Modeling, has been at Blair for three years. Although he is happy to be moving closer to his family, Mortensen feels the decision was a difficult one to make. He will especially miss the people he met during his stay at Blair. "A lot of friends tried to get me to stay, but they were supportive [of my decision to leave]," Mortensen says.
He believes that Blair is "wonderfully diverse, with incredible teachers, an incredible school, with a wonderful administration" and hopes to spread the experience he has gained here in order to help the education system in Atlanta. Mortensen believes that many students "don't even realize how lucky they are" to have the technology and opportunities Blair offers.
Mortensen says that when he leaves, he will "realize even more how much I'll miss the school."
