Five-dollar credit given to those who find him without ID
Mr. Gainous was caught without wearing his ID by a student, who then received a five-dollar credit towards her obligations for observing that he was not following the school policy.
The five-dollar credit was not given to the student as a spur of the moment action; Gainous said to freshmen they would be able to be given a reward if they caught him without an ID. "I had told the 9th graders that if I did not have an ID, they would receive a five-dollar credit," said Gainous.
Gainous admitted that this was his second time being caught without his ID. The first time a teacher had noticed.
Some students think the five-dollar credit is a great idea because it builds a connection between the principal and the students. "I think it is fair because the staff and students should be treated as equals, and I think this policy does exactly that," said sophomore Nafsika Dounis.
Gainous is now considering extending the five-dollar credit policy to other administrators.
