FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Students for Global Responsibility

Students for Global Responsibility (SGR) is sponsoring a Winter Drive at Montgomery Blair High School. Winter clothing, blankets, and canned food will be collected during the drive which starts Nov 6th and continues until Dec 19 (extended from Nov 20). All students may bring donations into their English of Social Studies classrooms.

The winter clothing and blankets will go to the Center for Health and Human Connection (CHHC). CHHC is a Washington-area non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people in need. There, all items will be sorted and sent to At Park Road Shelter, At Sasha Bruce House, Community of Hope, Stepping Stones Shelter, Calvary House, and My Sister's Place. These shelters help homeless people, runaways, victims of domestic violence, and people making the transition from being homeless to being a home owner.

All the canned foods will go to The Tess Community Service Center and Montgomery County Volunteer and Community Service Center. The Tess Community Service Center donates food to Hispanics in the Silver Spring area. The food is given to those who need it the most, such as single mothers, the unemployed, and the homeless. The Montgomery County Volunteer and Community Service Center donates food to minorities who are in the greatest need and living in the metropolitan area.
