Police in Santa Monica, California have issued an arrest warrant for rapper Young Buck in connection with the Nov. 15 stabbing of a man at the taping of the Vibe Magazine Awards in a Santa Monica airport hangar.

According to MTV News and the AP, Santa Monica police watched a tape of the fight, during which producer/rapper Dr. Dre was attacked. Investigators believe that Buck, 23, (real name David Darnell Brown) stabbed a man who assaulted Dre at the event.

Buck, will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. According to Santa Monica PD (SMPD) officials, Buck is one of three men seen with a knife.

"Brown is clearly depicted as holding a knife after the assault and is one of a number of fight participants that was pepper sprayed by officers in their attempt to stop this fight," Santa Monica police chief James Butts said at a news conference. "We're asking Mr. David Darnell Brown to surrender himself to police," he said.

According to The Associated Press and the SMPD, the melee began around 7:25 PST Monday Nov. 15 when Jimmy Johnson approached Dre for an autograph, only to punch the rapper in the stomach. The incident sent people running towards exits in all directions, according to The Associated Press.

Johnson was dragged away by security, but was then attacked by a large group of people, including Buck. The SMPD says that, at this point, Buck, in an attempt to get Johnson off of Dre, lunged toward the two, stabbing Johnson in the torso.

Johnson suffered a collapsed lung, and is currently in stable condition at a hospital, according to Butts. Dre was apparently able to get away without sustaining any major injuries, telling television reporters on UPN that "they," referring to Johnson, "can't stop me. I don't care."

UPN aired the awards show Tuesday Nov. 16, and the show was edited to remove any mention of the fracas.

Buck is signed to Dr. Dre's label, Aftermath Records. He was born and raised in Nashville, and released his major solo debut, "Straight Outta Ca$hville,” this past August. According to Butts, he has past arrests in Nashville for minor offenses. He is part of the platinum rap group G-Unit, which also features New Yorkers Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent.
