Exams to take place May 15 - 22

The county Office of School Performance (OSP) approved the senior exam schedule for the Class of 2009 on March 12, according to Assistant Principal Myriam Rogers.

Senior exams will be held on May 15 - 22, according to a memo sent by secretary Robin Platsky.

The senior exam schedule is as follows:

May 13: Senior exam review day
May 14: Senior exam review day
May 15: Exams periods 5 & 7
May 18: Exams periods 6 & 8
May 19: Exam Period 3
May 20: Exam Period 4
May 21: Exam Period 1
May 22: Exam Period 2
May 26: Senior make-up exams

On exam days, seniors are only required to attend their exam period classes. The senior exam schedule will also coincide with High School Assessment (HSA) testing dates May 18 - 21, resulting in altered bell schedules.

Prom will be on May 23 at the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center from 8 p.m. - 12 a.m., according to senior class sponsor Danyel Hartfield. Although prom ticket prices have not yet been determined, Hartfield estimates individual prom tickets to be $60 and $110 for a pair.

This year's prom theme is "A Night in Paris." Since October, Hartfield and the senior class officers have been planning the logistics of prom, including catering venues, prom party favors and decorations. Chris Stiles of Hot 99.5 will deejay.

In order to attend prom, seniors will have to pay off obligations and senior dues. Although senior fees were due Jan. 31, financial assistant Donna Franklin is presently awaiting money from many students. "I have approximately 150 students who still have not paid anything," she said.

Graduation is set for June 3. It will be held at the Comcast Center at 9 a.m., according to Principal Darryl Williams.

Hartfield plans to distribute an information sheet next week to clarify graduation details. She is also holding a senior parent meeting on Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
