Literary magazine's theme this year is "This Side Up"
Silver Quill, Blair's award-winning literary arts magazine, is accepting submissions for this year's edition, "This Side Up," until Jan. 19. The magazine, published yearly, features creative work from Blair students done both inside and outside of school.
This year's theme, "This Side Up," was chosen to emphasize the different perspectives that people have. Editor-in-Chief Nicole Poor says the title "contrasts the arrows on packaging boxes, which specify how to place them, to creative work, which can be viewed many different ways."
Silver Quill is looking for any type of work under the categories of artwork, photography, ceramics, prose, poetry, lyrics and sheet music. They will be holding photo shoots for large pieces of art on Jan. 16 and 17 from 12 p.m to 1 p.m. in room 11. Silver Quill staff will judge all work anonymously.
Silver Quill's 2004-2005 edition was one of the ten finalists for the National Scholastic Press Association's Pacemaker for literary magazines.
