Although I am no fan of sparkles or sequins, New Year's Eve is the one night of the year in which they are acceptable. Try out gold, red or silver sparkled clothing or accessories. Those colors always look nice this time of the year and are appropriate for the festivities.

If you are like me and you are opposed to sparkles but still want to incorporate them into your outfit, try minimal amounts of glittery attire. Instead of wearing a full on glittered dress or shirt, see how you like a sparkly headband or shoes paired with a solid colored dress.

If sparkles, period, are too much for you to handle, they can be interchanged with something shiny, such as a gold or silver necklace or earrings. Pairing these shiny accessories with warm holiday colored apparel is suitable for the occasion. Any wintery, cold-weather dress or fancy clothing items, holiday-themed or non-holiday themed, are appropriate for New Year's Eve as well. Style these at your own discretion and you are sure to look fabulously fashionable.

Fly guys
The outfit picking process is much simpler for guys than it is for girls – but it is not completely stress-free. If you are staying home with a few friends, aim for a casual but classy outfit. A nice holiday-themed sweater is suitable for casual celebrations. Cardigans or sweaters combined with dress shoes and jeans are a step up from your average everyday attire while staying on the casual side.

Christmas is over, but holiday colors such as red, green or gold are still applicable. For a more elegant gathering, a tie and dress shirt is appropriate while not being too fancy. Pairing a red, green or gold tie with a black button-down shirt would look sophisticated and proper for the occasion. If you plan to be outside in the cold but you still want to look stylish, try a sports coat. They are classy and comfortable and can keep you warm when needed.

Essential to all
2013 themed attire is a must for this New Year's Eve. It is vital to enter the New Year celebrating with fun accessories showcasing the next year. Try glasses, hats or head bands that say "2013" or "Happy New Year!" They are sure to bring joy and can be found for cheap prices sold in packs or individually at stores such as Party City. Also, do not forget your noisemakers for the New Year – they are crucial!

Whether you are doing something casual or attending a classy party, feel free to follow these guidelines. But remember that these are merely suggestions. You can use these tips to create your own perfect New Year's Eve outfit, or use your own judgment and incorporate your individual style to wear what you feel suits you best. Just remember to be confident in whatever you decide to wear and have a marvelous New Year's Eve.
