MAHALA, an authentic Township Jive band from South Africa performed in downtown Silver Spring in celebration of South Africa's Youth Day, commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Soweto uprisings. The free concert, presented by Silverdocs, the AFI/Discovery documentary film festival, was followed by the world premiere, outdoor screening of "Soweta Blues" June 16.
