The Emma L. Bowen Foundation

Dedicated to all minority students interested in media careers, the Emma L. Bowen Foundation offers paid internships with additional scholarships for college tuition. Under the guidance of mentors and supervisors, students in the program benefit from both educational and job-specific aspects of the media industry. After college, students can choose to stay at the company as a full employee. The application entails an official transcript, two teacher recommendations and an essay. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28.

The program coordinates with a large variety of partner companies in the media industry, for example, ABC, Inc. or Discovery Networks. The nearby cities from which the foundation recruits are Silver Spring, Rockville and Washington, D.C.
