However, traveling doesn't always need to entail patiently packing away clothing, browsing online for the best hotels or spending hours searching for flight availability.

Restaurant Reviews

Hiding in plain sight

By Maniza Habib | June 3, 2016, 1:11 p.m.

We all love Chipotle's burrito bowls, Santucci's artisan sandwiches and Subway's fresh footlongs, but there are some places across the street that stay hidden in the shadows of those Four Corners staples. We pass by Four Corners every day before school, after school, and during school (just kidding, because we have closed lunch, of course!), yet somehow we ignore the independent eateries just a short walk away.

Samantha's Restaurant: more than just 'fine' cuisine

By Brian Le | Dec. 9, 2014, 5:47 p.m.

At first glance, it looks like nothing out of the ordinary – it's a small place that sits innocuously off University Boulevard between two shady-looking parking lots. Yet, Samantha's serves some of the most delicious Latin American food in the DC area.

Sides shine at Jackie's Restaurant

By Abir Muhuri | Feb. 24, 2014, 1:05 p.m.

Beyond two velvet black curtains lies an eclectic-urban hangout with fluorescent lights and fading brick walls. After a grueling start to the week, a Southern comfort menu marries beautifully to a chic city eat-out.

Hollywood East Cafe

By Samuel Popper | Jan. 6, 2014, 12:58 p.m.

Hollywood East Cafe is located in the "Restaurant Row" section of the Wheaton Mall located on Veirs Mill road in Wheaton about a 10 minute drive from Montgomery Blair High School. The restaurant itself seems kind of hidden under a canopy of the mall so it can be kind of tough to find from the outside. The Hollywood East Cafe was not a very big restaurant, it was smaller than it looked but still seemed to fit about 50-60 people on a busy day.

Not your average Tex-Mex restaurant

By Melissa Arias Caroline Gabriel | Dec. 3, 2013, 1 p.m.

With their sultry colors, dim lighting and vibrant Spanish and Mexican art, the restaurant provides you with a piquant dining escape. Their cultural paintings and traditional Spanish and Mexican food come together to craft an experience that is not to be forgotten.
