The JV softball team opened their season with a strong victory over the Einstein Titans this afternoon. Despite foundering mid-way through the game, the Blazers' superior batting skills carried the team to a 22-11 win after only five innings.

The Blazers opened their season today with a 11-1 win against the Einstein Titans. While there were no stars of the game, the Blazers attribute their strong win to sophomore co-captain Lee Shields' solid consistency at catcher and sophomore Max Epstein's outstanding excellence as pitcher. Sophomore Sam Morris was a solid hitter, along with freshmen Keith Ingram and Adam Kopp.

Despite a valiant effort, the junior varsity girls' basketball team lost to the Damascus Hornets 49-31 on Jan. 23 to drop their record to 2-9. The Blazers kept the game close most of the way and proved to be a worthy opponent against a Damascus team that steamrolled them 49-11 earlier in the season.

The Sherwood Warriors defeated the girls' junior varsity basketball team 44-41 on Jan. 14, dropping the Blazers to 2-7 on the season and extending Blair's seven game skid. Although the Blazers had one of their best offensive performances of the year, the girls' effort was overshadowed by uncharacteristically poor defensive play.

The Springbrook Blue Devils defeated the Blair girls' junior varsity basketball team 33-21 on January 6, handing Blair its fifth straight loss and dropping the Blazers' record to 2-5. Springbrook dominated from the beginning, accumulating an early fifteen point lead and never allowing the Blazers to get back in the game. The Blazers were troubled by a chronic lack of offense and seemed uninspired in one of their sloppiest lackluster performances.
