"Wow, nice socks!" A few years ago, a comment like that would probably be an insult, but this year, it may just be a genuine compliment. Blazers often talk about how good their "shoe game" is while showing off the latest sneakers. But in 2013, it's not enough to be hip with the latest shoes, now you need great socks as well. Introducing: "Sock game." Here are some ideas on different types of socks to get to increase your sock game.

Athletic look
Even if you're simply playing with your friends for fun, the right athletic wear can make it look like you're ballin' like a pro. With classy attire, you'll be intimidating right when you step out onto the court. The popular Nike Elite Socks, although on the pricey side ($14), can help you take your athletic performance to the next level by making you look good without compromising comfort or athletic ability. These socks were specifically designed for basketball and running with their cushioning and Dri-FIT fabric that wicks sweat away to keep feet feeling comfortable, dry and fresh. Nike Elite Socks also come in a variety of colors to match any shoe, from your Adidas Slides to your Air Jordans.

Bold look
For a more bold but elegant look, there are a plenty of patterns and graphics to wear. As the weather gets warmer, try wearing some knee high patterns with a basic top and shorts to add some pizazz to your outfit.

For the truly daring, there are crazier patterns to suit your inner weirdness. If you have the confidence, you can definitely rock those mismatched socks and tacky designs. Some cool socks include superhero cape socks and Urban Outfitters' dinosaur socks, shark socks and junk food socks.

If you're dying to wear some crazy socks but are somewhat hesitant, don't fret! Although the next Wacky Tacky day may not be for a while, the rising "Friday Socks" movement is the perfect opportunity to wear your amazing socks. Real estate investment firm worker Joshua Weiner, 25, started the "Friday Socks" movement, which has inspired even business workers on Wall Street to participate, jazzing up their typical conservative attire by wearing funky socks on Fridays. If there are crazy socks on Wall Street, there's no reason why there can't be crazy socks on Blair Boulevard as well.

Classy look
Crazy socks aren't for everyone. For those mainly interested in looking nice, stick with simple, classic and subtle patterns. For girls, knee-highs, sheer socks and frilled socks can look cute and elegant when paired with oxfords, lace up boots or heels.

For guys, some fun yet elegant patterns to experiment with are argyle, tribal, basic stripes and marble. Try crew cut socks or ankle socks if you don't want your socks to be a fashion statement, but rather a nice accessory to add a small pop to your wardrobe.

Whether you're looking to compliment your impeccable shoe game, impress your friends with your unique urban fashion finds, go all out crazy or find the perfect way to tie your whole outfit together, the right socks can go a long way.
