For a restaurant that is located on Colesville road in Downtown Silver Spring, not too far from Blair, La Malinche gives the impression of being miles away, almost as if in a different country. When you enter La Malinche, you are instantly transported out of the United States and into more exotic territory. With their sultry colors, dim lighting and vibrant Spanish and Mexican art, the restaurant provides you with a piquant dining escape. Their cultural paintings and traditional Spanish and Mexican food come together to craft an experience that is not to be forgotten.

The restaurant is unique in the way it serves its food. It is a tapas bar and restaurant. This means that instead of getting an individual appetizer, entree or dessert, dishes are served in snack sizes meant to be shared with the whole table. I find a lot of the time that when I am at a restaurant, I end up trying everyone else's food anyway. So the fact that the portions are meant to be shared proved to be very efficiently satisfying.

Each rich and carefully coordinated dish has a flavor all it's own, full of the distinct and effervescent cultural flavors of Spain and Mexico. No plate was boring in flavor or looks; each dish is unlike the others, yet still delicious. The succulent food is served by friendly and culturally knowledgeable waiters who decode some of the mystery in navigating the restaurant's extensive Spanish menu.

The restaurant has a variety of unique food to please all customers. Whether you are looking for a vegetarian dish that does not compromise on flavor or a meat dish that is savory and delicious, La Malinche delivers. Meat, seafood, and vegetables alike are delivered with a delectable flair. The flavors and presentation of the food rejuvenate the rich traditions of the countries they come from.

Not only is the food good and the atmosphere pleasing, but it is extremely affordable for us high schoolers, another great aspect to La Malinche.

We have been to numerous Tex-Mex restaurants and Spanish food serving places, but none compare to La Malinche. Not only is the food great, but the unique way they serve food lets you try some of everything and for not much money at all. Overall, the restaurant left us feeling satisfied and fulfilled. We highly recommend you stop by the restaurant. Even if you do not like Spanish or Mexican food, the decor is sure to amaze.
